CLASSROOM SUCCESS
Opportunities and programs abound that will enable students to enhance their classroom experience.
Tutoring programs exist in all curricular areas that will supplement the efforts of the classroom teacher and the course requirements. Memory enhancement, reading enhancement, and tutoring programs are viable and valuable investments to make in the student's future success. Another extremely important skill that must be developed is learning to write by using well constructed sentences and with the correct grammar. Reading and writing are two of the most important skills a person will ever use in the academic world or the world of work. Math tutoring is another trouble area for many students. All of these options offer help in preventing the student dropout and aid them in achieving their high school diploma. All professional teachers will give what time they have to give to tutor any student who asks. However, with the normal class load of 100 to 150 students, their time is restricted. The motivated student who asks usually receives assistance. Sometimes this assistance comes from classmates as well as their teacher. For a host of reasons known only to themselves, some students who are motivated to succeed and some who are not, will not ask for the assistance they need. The highest percentage of dropout students come from this latter group. In order to discourage students from dropping out, parents should encourage their students to take advantage of options available to help them succeed. There are many alternative solutions and enhancement programs available that will better assure a higher degree of success. The successful student rarely drops out.
